I"m trying to get more bible study in, but still come up with a lot of the same problems...if a verse is interpreted two different ways, and both have other verses to back them up, how do you know which one, if either, is right? And what if you get the idea one is right, but it's the one that's denounced by most major religious leaders as being, well, wrong? I see so much inconsistency in the interpretation and application by pretty much every church I've been to, that it's no wonder doing bible study gives me a headache.
Then I have the issue of reading something and not knowing if it was something that was meant for use for all time, or only for that particular time, and not meant to be used today. Some of that stems from being told in church you can or can't do this or that, because of this or that verse, but other verses in the same letter to the same people/person say to do something or not do something, but it's not applicable to today, only then. I think I'll stick to the psalms and gospels this week, just to get a break from the brain strain.
