  • I seem to have a problem remember to write in journals of any type. I bought a nice one to keep in my room, but forget to write in it, too. Oh well.

A weird dream last night....somehow, several of us in the family had managed to break into some kind of bank that had gold bars deposited there....we had to take a hammer and break the bricks into chunks, and took them out of the bank, trying to get out before we got caught. Well, we didn't get caught, but I couldn't just take a chunk of gold to some store or other bank and ask them for a big pile of cash for it...well, Whoopi Goldberg was part of the dream, and she gave me a big bunch of cash for some of the gold I had...then we were looking for stores to go shopping at, but on the way, we had stopped off at some trailer park nearby. My daughter was suppose to be living there, but the trailer that was suppose to be hers wasn't being lived in, and was full of junk and sort of torn up. We were glad she wasn't living there, but didn't know where she was. We decided to use some of the money to find a place for her to live once we figured out where she was. But there was enough that we still went shopping :)

  • Reading is going to get me into trouble yet.
I was reading a book yesterday right before practice, and the section I was reading was about being a perfectionist. Uh oh, guilty on that one. Every time I get done playing on sunday morning, I look back and re hash every last wrong note I played, every wrong timing problem, or whatever wasn't right. It's a little ridiculous, I know...especially when I start doing that in practice, after trying to sight read four or five songs. Last night, I sort of just relaxed, did the best I could but didn't worry too much about messing up, since I have two days to learn them all. It was a much more pleasant practice.
I don't know why I did it, since it's so out of character for me, but I actually asked the girls singing if I could try the third part to their harmony on Breathe. No one had heard me sing there, so they were a little freaked too. But it came off well enough just going over it cold that we've decided to lessen the instrumentation on sunday, leave out the guy singer ( I don't think he was going to sing much on that one anyway) and make it a three-girl song. The thing is, though, that I NEVER do stuff like that. I rarely will sing at all, even if someone asks me to (mostly because I can't sing and play at the same time very well, but also because I dont't think I sound all that great) but to ask them to let me try it? Wow. God's changing me more and more all the time.
I may try to read more of that book today, just to see what else catches my attention....

  • I"m trying to get more bible study in, but still come up with a lot of the same problems...if a verse is interpreted two different ways, and both have other verses to back them up, how do you know which one, if either, is right? And what if you get the idea one is right, but it's the one that's denounced by most major religious leaders as being, well, wrong? I see so much inconsistency in the interpretation and application by pretty much every church I've been to, that it's no wonder doing bible study gives me a headache.

Then I have the issue of reading something and not knowing if it was something that was meant for use for all time, or only for that particular time, and not meant to be used today. Some of that stems from being told in church you can or can't do this or that, because of this or that verse, but other verses in the same letter to the same people/person say to do something or not do something, but it's not applicable to today, only then. I think I'll stick to the psalms and gospels this week, just to get a break from the brain strain.

  • My neck's not hurting quite as bad, although it still is giving me trouble. Oh well.

I had a dream last night that a group of us went to Chicago to watch some kind of boxing match, but some of us didn't really care about watching it, so we waited in a lobby and watched tv. I also remember calling my brother in the dream, and he had asked me if I wanted to go car shopping with him, and I said I couldn't right now. He called me the next day and said he bought a new car, so I asked what he got, and he said a red ferrari! Hahaha.

I'm looking forward to band practice thursday. I hope andy picks some songs like he did last week. I'm glad to see that even with the changes in the band, that things are still fairly stable. I'm glad to be in a group where worship is a priority, not just something saved for sunday morning and forgotten the rest of the week. Awesome.

  • Church was awesome yesterday. Andy picked some really good songs, they were fun to play, although I sort of messed up a little on the second one. Bummer. But Krissy did a solo that had half the praise team either crying or praying or both. I look forward to when they get some kind of small group set up that me and my husband would both be interested in. So far, it's mostly beginners classes, and married people's classes...neither of which we're interested in. We're both wanting something that goes deeper into learning about God.
